The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) of the US Department of Education has established ten regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTACs) to provide information, training, and technical assistance to employers, people with disabilities, advocates for people with disabilities and other entities with responsibilities under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

        The centers act as a "one-stop" central, comprehensive resource on ADA issues in employment, public services, public accommodations (private for profit and non-profit businesses), and communications.  Each center works closely with local business, disability, governmental, rehabilitation, and other professional networks to provide ADA information and assistance.  Programs vary in each region, but all centers provide the following:

• Technical Assistance      

• Education and Training  

• Materials Dissemination  

• Information and Referral

• Public Awareness          

• Local Capacity Building  

        The DBTACs are also providing information and technical assistance on education-based information technology, such as websites, software and hardware, in collaboration with the National Center on Accessible Information Technology in Education (AccessIT).  http://www.washington.edu/accessit/
